The Art of Asking Questions

With that title Ron Ashkenas surprised us in the Harvard Business Review few weeks ago.
According to him there are three areas where improved "questioning" can strengthen managerial effectiveness; "and it might be worth considering how you can improve your skills in each one." I will resume those areas in  the following bullets points:

  • Ask questions about yourself. To be a good manager you should know about your strengths and weaknesses, to then be able to fix and improve them.
  • Ask questions about plans and projects. This bullet point could be link to the one above. Always look for to grow, to improve, to be curious. Your capacity to ask and to listen can help others (and yourself) to find out their own conclusions. In both, financial and SEO world, every person, every moment, listened by the right person can be a business opportunity.
  • Ask questions about the organization. Understand this, every part of the gear is important, if you miss one the the little gears or you don't know how it works, you will not be able to fix it.
