The Benefits of Guest Blogging

Guest blogging is a frequent occurrenceon the Internet. In fact, in the blogosphere guest blogging is as common as TV personalities appearing on each other's shows or news reporters gracing the studios of network shows in order to be 'talking heads.'

It's quite useful to think about the Internet as the next great medium, because in many ways it is replacing television as the default destination people go to to get their news, entertainment, and educational resources.

Companies use blogging as powerful marketing tools, search engine optimization, and even as reputation management services, which often deploy blogging as a way to saturate the web with positive content. Guest blogging is all a major part of this, as it allows a blogger or company to organically network and control the narrative surrounding his/her/its brand.

Here are a few of the ways guest blogging expands your brand's network:

Become more recognized in your niche.

Why would you want to put one of your blog posts on someone else' site? You ask. Especially a good one—aren't you just helping to generate traffic for someone else? Well, yes. But you have to think about it on a broader level. Posting content on someone else's blog introduces your writing to an entirely new legion of readers that are already part of your niche. Ideally, you're blogging on a site with a higher Page Rank than your own, so you're basically getting free high-quality advertising while also poaching new readers.

Generate backlinks and boost your SEO.

Backlinks are when another site or blog (again, ideally one with high PR) links back to your blog either in its blogroll (ideal) or as an in-post link. Backlinks are extremely important in the SEO world and can single-handedly boost your search engine results. Guest blogging usually creates powerful backlinks from the publisher and if the post is good enough and gets shared enough through social media it may be picked up and aggregated on a social news site like Reddit or Digg. This is the advantage of guest blogging, exponential exposure in high-traffic intersections of the web.

Create blogging alliances.

By guest blogging for someone else you increase the likelihood that you'll have a permanent ally who will promote you to their readers, link to your own blog posts, and share your content on social media. Look at guest blogging as networking, SEO, advertising, link-building, and alliance-creation all in one. A great idea for new bloggers is to reach out to major publishers in their respective niches and propose the idea of a guest post. As we have covered, this allows you to build credibility in your niche, create strong backlinks and network with important bloggers.

SEO - The Best Strategy Is One Way Links

Building one-way backlinks to your site is a crucial SEO strategy. It indicates that your site is important and interesting enough to link to. It is generally considered to be far more effective than reciprocal links, or links that are traded between webmasters.
One way links to your site are seen as a vote of confidence for your site, but how do you get them? There are two very effective methods for getting such links to your site. Both methods involve the writing and submitting of articles, but how they are used varies from one method to the other:

1) Directory submissions There are what are known as article directories that will automate much of the process for you. You submit your articles to such directories so that bloggers and e-zine editors may reprint the articles for their own use.

Of course, they are supposed to give you a link back to your website in return (although this does not always happen). However, the existence of the article on the article directory itself gives you at least one guaranteed backlink.

Article directories do not require exclusive access to your content, but you must be the creator of the material you submit to some directories.

2) Guest blogging: This is a bit more proactive than submitting to directories. In this case, you must actively seek out blogs in your niche that are interested in accepting guest posts.

Simply send them an e-mail and pitch your idea. In some cases, you will be given a user account so that you can post your article to their blog directly.

Most blogs that acccept guest articles demand unique content; that is, articles that are submitted nowhere else, including on your own blog or website. However, the guaranteed backlink, in some cases from a high PR (page rank) site, is usually worth it.

In exchange for exclusive use of your article, the blog is expected to include a link back to your website. This is your "payment" for the article. For every blog that uses your content you have another one-way link back to your own.

A crucial component of both of the above methods is the placement of what is known as a resource box at the end of your article. This contains a link to your website along with a reason why readers should visit it.

Admittedly, the two main methods of generating backlinks to your site are time-consuming and labor-intensive. Some people opt to hire a professional to help with the generation of one-way backlinks, but of course the fees involved with this method must be deducted from one's overall profits.

Article marketing and guest bolgging are platform agnostic. You can promote your blog or site in this way whetehr you use a Mac, a PC, an iPad or some other device. Persistence is the most important criteria.

No matter how you choose to generate one-way backlinks to your site, you should know that it can be one of the most effective ways of website promotion. In addition to the backlinks, which are noticed by the search engines, you can receive direct traffic from readers of your guest articles.

You might get the impression that the Mac is the forgotten stepchild of the Internet marketing industry. But did you know that some of the top names in Internet Marketing use Macs? How to Promote Your Website Via SEO

That's right. You can promote your website using search engine optimization. I thought SEO was just used to bump your website up to the top of the SERPS, you say? Well, it is. But you can use it to promote your website at the same time.

Here's how SEO is used to promote your website:
  • Guest Blogging: When you guest blog and add your text link into the article you've written, you're not only generating backlinks back to your own website, you're giving the readers of the blog you're writing for an additional avenue back to your website. In other words, by providing another blog with quality content that reads well and is full of quality information, you're giving that blog's readers incentive to visit your site. Developing a relationship with readers is extremely important, and by doing so, you'll effectively increase traffic to your own site.
  • Forum Posting: Forum posting is also another place where you can place your backlinks, but as with guest blogging, if you provide frequent users with quality answers and information, you'll be giving them incentive to check your site out. Try visiting a multitude of forums of varying topics related to your website like a Long Island used cars forum. If you only stick to one topic, you're missing out on plenty of other users who could benefit from reading your site.
  • Link Exchanges: Many websites still do this practice because of how beneficial it is to both parties, but some may not like your requests. But if you can find sites willing to do this with you, you stand to gain a lot of traffic. Not only will you be promoting your site by being bumped in Google, you'll be gaining traffic by having users see your text link or advertisement right on the site you've done a link exchange with.
  • Press Releases: Press releases are great for telling people about your website and what's new there, but it's also good for bringing people back to your site. By telling everyone that you have a new product or new section to your website, they'll want to come check it out for themselves. Who knows, you might even get more visitors that stay for an extended period of time.

These are just some of the SEO techniques that can promote your site. If you do these in tandem with others, you'll soon find yourself with a site full of more people than you could imagine.
