Social Media Broadcasting

Building your Tribe & Establishing your expertise.
Accurately describing a social network on paper is at best difficult. Many different sites, reports and tools work together with the online consumer ecosystem to create a flow of information from your business out into the social universe. Once the message is consistently present, listeners find it and "tune in."

The best example I can use is that of a radio station broadcast. Online content and social media tools create the information "broadcast." Those looking for information on your brand, product, or area of expertise find you in the social stream through search engines, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc. If you demonstrate expertise through useful content, and are consistently present, your tribe "tunes in" to your social media channels.

If you are a business, stepping into this new medium can be confusing. Here are the five key steps required to successfully design and execute a social media marketing strategy.
  • Publishing: Everything starts with content. Written and hosted on primarily on your website, blog, or YouTube channel, the content is the key element of your company websites. New content attracts search engines, website visitors, and those who want to know more about your brand, or area of expertise.
  • Broadcasting: Broadcasting tools allow you to take content and spread it across the social media universe. The right broadcasting tools also allow you to link to content created by others, and add their content to your broadcast. Using our metaphor, a radio station doesn't products all their own programming. By hosting other experts, their own reputation grows, and so does yours. After we've created content, our next step is to gain followers.
  • Listening: You must listen to your customers and to your own broadcast. How far does your reach extend? Are you getting feedback? Are others connecting with you? You can listen through specific web-based tools feedback tools, evaluate the effectiveness of your campaign, and adjust your strategy whenever necessary. You status as an expert is earned, and the information you've provide is the currency.
  • Marketing: After you generate a listening audience, the friends and followers are converted into buyers, which happens the old-fashioned way. Prospects become customers when you give them a reason to purchase now, and make sure that the value they receive is greater than the money coming out of their wallet. After you establishing yourself as an expert, the next step is offering incentives and perks to purchase now.
  • Connecting: Pushing information outbound is the first step in social marketing. This process creates what I referred to as Inbound Marketing. Now your prospects are contacting you. Facebook, Twitter, your blog, email, etc are the telephone of the 21st century business, and businesses don't stay in business long if they don't answer their telephones.
In the next five posts, I will discuss each step in more detail. If you're not using social media, your business is already at a disadvantage. You can find "How To" tutorials about specific tools across the web. This series will help you grasp "Why" social media is the key to connecting with your businesses next generation of customers, clients and stakeholders.

Information about the Google Pagerank

Google has developed a technology to determine and improve the quality of a web page. Google gives every page a score called the Pagerank. The Pagerank is a number between 0 and 10, with 10 being the highest possible rank your website can get. If your site has a high page rank it will probably have a good chance of scoring high in search engines.

Basically the page rank is separated from your position in the Google search engine results. You can have a high Pagerank but standing low in the list of search results, or vice versa. But because both things are judged on the same number of points, the sites with a high page rank are usually standing at the top of the search results.

Some things to look at your Google Pagerank
  • Make sure you update your website regularly. This has a positive effect on both the page rank and your score in search engines.

  • Ensure good inbound links and outbound links. Relevant websites with a high Pagerank provide good backlinks, it can make your own page rank go up too. The value of reciprocal links (link exchange) is significantly reduced.

  • Google is not happy with buying links. So keep that in mind and be careful.

  •  Internal links on your website have a positive affect on your Pagerank.

Today the links from directories have almost no influence any more on your position in the search results.

Check the Keyword Density of your Page or Article

If you have made a website and you want people to find your site, then you can promote your website in different ways. But most important is to get your site high in the Google search engine results. This can be achieved by using search engine optimization (SEO). And an important part of this is called Keyword Density.

What is Keyword Density?

To optimize your website for a search engine to index your site properly, then consider the use of more relevant keyword for your website or articles. A search engine assumes that if a given word is often used in a text, this word is very important to the content and it also tells the search engine what the topic or article is about. And it is important for Google AdSense because these important keywords will trigger the ads on your website to be more relevant. This is called Keyword Density: the density of keywords.

How Keyword Density is calculated?

The density is calculated in percentages. Suppose you have a article of 500 words, with 5x the word "search". The Density of that article than is 1% (1 in 100 words).

You can calculate the keyword of a page or article by yourself, but there are useful websites and software to do the job for you. One such tool is the Keyword Density Checker on webconfs.com.

How to use Keyword Density on your website?

If you want to score well with a certain keyword you must provide a Keyword Density of 2 to 5%. Note: If that keyword is used too often it can backfire on you. So use variety in your text.

Optimize your website so that your keywords are divided in the text of a article. Make sure to put important keywords  in the title of your article, in the first paragraph, middle and bottom of your page or article.

Google uses Social Network sites for Search Engine results

Google uses Social Network sites for search engine results. So from now on Googles search results are increasingly based on how often something is shared by friends through social media. Search results from friends are in fact often more relevant than general hits. Web pages written by friends and shared on a social media networking website such as Twitter, Facebook, Myspace or Google Plus, are now increasingly getting better results in the Google search engine.

So for example if your friends share a links on Twitter or Facebook, then these sites are getting higher in the search resultsthen if you are looking for something on Google. Among the results it also shows how often something is shared and by whom.

Google now looks not only for what is shared by a Google Account, but also by Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Flickr and many other social networks. It is also possible to disable certain social network sites not to be display in the Google search engine.

Google stresses that only things that have been made public will be displayed in the search results. So if you have certain things in your profile is not made visible to anyone, then Google can't use it for their search engine.

Reasons for a Google Penalty

In this article we give you the main reasons why your website can get a Google penalty and how you can prevent this. Please read this carefully to avoid any problems with Google in the future.

Over-optimization

We talk about over optimization as a website is getting too many backlinks within a short period of time. And especially if most of that links contains identical anchor texts. It is unknow what number triggers this Google penalty. Websites that use automated link building tools are most at risk of this penalty.

Websites specially made for Google Adsense

These are sites with no significant unique content, but with many links to affiliates. These websites are only built and specially constructed to get clicks and views through Google AdSense.

Cloaking (hidden links or text)

These are websites that contain hidden text or links that are not visible to the visitors . They are only visible in the source code, and their aim is to get as high in the Google search results as possible.

Paid Links

These are sites that sell or buy backlinks for the purpose of a high PageRank and get many inbound links. Google wants you to add the rel = nofollow tag is attached to paid and related links. Without this tag a high PageRank can be passed through, and so the link must have been bought. Google pays no longer much attention to PageRank and its is now mainly backlinks.

Linking to banned or untrustworthy sites

If your site links to a banned or untrustworthy website you can get yourself a penalty. So check your links frequently. With untrusted sites we mean spam sites, link farms and doorway pages. Spam Sites are sites with illogical sentences stuffed with important keywords to score high in search results, or they contain hidden links or text. A doorway page is a website stuffed with keywords, which runs a redirect so that visitors will see a different Web page.  Link Farms and Link directories with logical layout. They are usually part of a network linked together and have no value to visitors. The correct definition of a link farm is a little fuzzy. For example, start pages have a link farm structure, but they usually get no penalty from Google.  Probably because each subject or category has a logical format.

Link Farm / crosslinking

If you are a webmaster with several sites you should really be careful here. Many people make a sort of link network with linking the sites together. This allows sites with a high position or pagerank to boost the smaller sites. This is forbidden, Google simply recognizes these networks because al websites on the same host have the same IP. All sites are linked together even if they are sometimes irrelevant. It is no problem to have sites with all have the same subject. Google wants you to put links on your site to websites with the same subject. So if you put links to your websites on a different subject, then Google knows that you do so to help your own websites and not to the improve the quality of the website.  Google sees this as spam.

Keyword stuffing

It is important for your site to use keywords. But if you stuff your entire text with the same keywords then it works opposite.

Exchange links with irrelevant sites

Only insert links to other websites that are relevant to your site. With the same subject as your own website, or at least close to it. Do not use websites where you can register to exchange links. Because this creates a whole bunch of links to your website to bring you down in the Google search results.

Google Penalty and the types of Google Penalties

If your site does not meet the guidelines set by the Google search engine, then Google will punish you with a Google Penalty. You get no message from Google, but if for example your site is no longer displayed in Google, or you suddenly get much less traffic to your website without a lot of changes, then it may be that you have got a penalty. You must find out why you have received penalty points and improve your site. Then you can wait until Google removes the penalty with the next time the Google bot visits your site. Or if you hurry, you a re-Consideration of request to Google through the Google Webmaster Tools.

A penalty is not a total ban, it's more a warning from Google.

Different types of  Google Penalties

There are several types of Google Penalties. Penalties may include a lowered PageRank, a shift position in search results and ultimately a complete removal from the Google index. At the last we speak no more of a penalty but a ban.

The 6 Ranking Penalty

Is distributed to websites with unexpected ranking the first place, probably because too much or too fast search engine optimization. This website then drops 6 places down in the search results.

The 30 Penalty Suppression

Given to websites that contain little or no content. These are websites that only focus on getting ad Clicks and views. Websites with this penalty will lower down 30 places in the search results.

The 50 Paid Links penalty

Is handed out to sites that do not respect the guidelines for paid and related links. Google wants you to add a rel = nofollow tag attached on no related links. Without this tag your website can be pass through a high PageRank to other websites, and so the link must have been bought.

The 950

This is the heaviest penalty a website  can get. This penalty is given to websites that not respect  to the Google guidelines, and if you dont handle quickly your website will be completely banned from the Google search engine results.
